David Hunt was born in Long Beach, California; lived in the Philippine Islands and the New England Coast before settling in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He studied product design at the University of Cincinnati and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design.
David's professional career included extensive work as product development consultant and as an Adjunct Instructor at the Design, Art and Architecture College at the University of Cincinnati.
There is a dream-like touch to his landscapes. His transitions in tone and color between trees, sky, water or fields are at times subtle; at other times very severe in contrast and value.
“With the dramatic approach to light and shadow, David Hunt’s paintings have a vividness conveyed by the extreme contrasts of his scenes. He trains the spotlight on certain details, illuminating elements that might have otherwise been lost in the dimness: the elegant curve of a road, a moonlit path, an old fence in the fog. These facets coalesce into striking compositions that are as intriguing and they are arresting.”
